New Media and the First Crusade...

Blog. Wiki. RSS. Widget. Mobile. Mashup. PodCast. Social Network.

Some would call these fads. But we, the New Media Crusaders, know better. We have seen the future, and the future is new media. We proud brethren understand that these tools and others yet unforeseen, will soon dictate our communication.

Therefore, we have taken a solemn vow to spread the "gospel" that is New Media. It is up to us, the New Media Crusaders, to help people see the future of communication. It is up to us to convert non-believers, into crusaders for New Media - a job we take seriously (sometimes). Actually, we'll probably spend most of our time drinking beer and talking to each other about new media.

Do you have the conviction to be a New Media Crusader?

Social Network Cheat Sheet

Hey gang -

This is an intentionally brief "cheat sheet" to help people who are considering getting involved with online social networks and may be apt to struggle with maintaining their social networks (adding new content, participating, etc). Per request from a couple of you - I'm posting it here for the group's input and feedback. Feel free to add. This is probably pretty timely, considering this network is (ironically) not very active. Again - this list is simply for the novice to help them… Continue

Will You Miss Newspapers?

An older post from Seth Godin that I just got around to reading. Pretty interesting. Thoughts?

When newspapers are gone, what will you miss?

Years and years after some pundits began predicting the end of newspapers, the newspapers themselves are finally realizing that it's over. Huge debt, high costs, declining subscription rates, plummeting ad base--will the las… Continue

why blogs?

dudes. why are we doing all this in blog posts? It seems like the forum is what we want.

Just my opinion. I want to be able to look at the forum and see all the content. We all already have blogs.

Reno Social Media Think Tank

Macmillan Expands Book and Author Podcast Program - 3/30/2009 - Publishers Weekly

New media and traditional media do better when they work together.

Highlights and Sticky Notes:

Although the stats on quickanddirtytips.com are fairly impressive—in 2008 more than 20 million Quick and Dirty podcasts were downloaded, and Web traffic was up 125%—the effort for Macmillan is still largely about test-marketing potential books and authors. Richard Rohrer, director of digital business development, said that while he's happy the site is a “financially successful enterprise,” he's more interested in seeing which podcasts and podcasters gain an audience. “The thing about podcasts is that they're a cost-effective way to test a subject area and talent,” he noted.
