Hey gang -
This is an intentionally brief "cheat sheet" to help people who are considering getting involved with online social networks and may be apt to struggle with maintaining their social networks (adding new content, participating, etc). Per request from a couple of you - I'm posting it here for the group's input and feedback. Feel free to add. This is probably pretty timely, considering this network is (ironically) not very active. Again - this list is simply for the novice to help them get in the habit of adding valuable content to a network.
GOOD HABITS:
POSTING NEW CONTENT (Once a week or more often, if relevant)
1. Interesting articles you’re reading about your industry (links)
2. News that affects you/network (links or testimonial)
3. News combined with your opinion
4. Answers to Frequently Asked Questions
5. Relevant Facts/Trivia (ie – did you know?)
6. Photography (events, new “stuff”, people)
7. Video (links/embed)
8. Announcements
9. Upcoming Events
10. Event Recaps
11. Questions to group
12. Other
RESPONDING (as often as possible without
1. Responding to questions posted on network
2. No need to reply to the “hello!” posts all of the time. If you’d like, you can post a “welcome to all of our new friends” post every now and then. Not necessary, though.
3. Responding and accepting membership/connection requests (if applicable).
4. Monitoring any inappropriate posts and deleting as necessary
BAD HABITS:
1. Posting boring content
2. Posting outdated news
3. Not responding or posting for weeks at a time
4. Not being a human being (being too polished)
5. Being argumentative (sometimes just let the dog bark)
6. Not giving credit where credit is due (links, articles, sources, etc)
